There is a proposed agenda item about this issue to be discussed at the council meeting. We need to show up en masse to let the council know Novato residents want public notice and a stronger wireless ordinance to protect our town from being bombarded by harmful, unnecessary wireless facilities near our homes and schools. COUNCIL needs to know we CARE and are expecting them to address this urgent matter now. YOUR ATTENDANCE IS CRITICAL.
What we will focus on at today’s council meeting:
1. Thank planning department for sending out letter to AT&T confirming their applications have been automatically withdrawn because they didn’t resubmit them within 60 days as required by our ordinance.
2. Emphasize importance of immediate PUBLIC NOTICE upon city’s receipt of any new applications for WTFs. That includes posting on the city website as well as notifying by mail all residences and businesses within 600 feet of a proposed installation.
3. Emphasize need for EXPERT legal counsel in crafting our new, more protective ordinance. We do not want to limit ourselves to using the same attorneys who gave us the current, flimsy ordinance. We want top telecom attorney Andrew Campanelli, who knows how to actually protect cities from installations being placed near our homes and schools.
